Revelation is closed
Revelation is closed
Historians have offered several opinions as to how long the revelation was withheld. The correct thing about them is that the revelation was closed only for a few days. Regarding how long the revelation was withheld, Ibn Sa'd narrates a quote from Ibn Abbas that supports this claim. It has been circulated in some sources that revelation was stopped for two and a half or three years; But that is not correct.
As a result of deep thinking and a sharp look at the related descriptions and the opinions of the scholars, a somewhat unconventional matter has been revealed to me and no disagreement can be seen among the scholars, namely:
Before prophethood, the Prophet (ï·º) used to spend only one month in seclusion in the cave of Hera; And that is the month of Ramadan every year. The year of Prophethood was the last year of these three years. At the end of this entire month of Ramadan, on the first morning of the month of Shawwal, the prophet of the universe returned home blessed with the revelation of the last prophet.
Moreover, it is known from the narrations of Bukhari and Muslim that the revelation was revealed for the second time after the cessation of revelation, when the Messenger of Allah (ï·º) was returning from seclusion for a whole month.
I (Safiur Rahman) say: This hadith testifies that the second revelation after the cessation of revelation is on the first day of the month of Shawwal after the end of the month of Ramadan in which the Prophet (ï·º) received the revelation. Because that was his last stay in the cave of Hera. And when it was proved that the first revelation was revealed to him 21 In Ramadhan then it was definitely established that the period of revelation was closed for only 10 days. Then the revelation was revealed again on Friday morning, the first day of the month of Shawwal in the first year of Prophethood. Perhaps the secret is the seclusion of the last ten days of Ramadan and the completion of Itikaaf and the specializing of the first day of Shawwal as the day of Eid for the Muhammadan Ummah. Allah knows best.
The Prophet (ï·º) used to feel very worried and disturbed while the revelation was closed. It is narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari Sharif's Tabir (Interpretation of Dreams) chapter that when the revelation stopped, the Prophet (ï·º) would feel so upset and embarrassed and his anxiety and discomfort would increase to such an extent that he would make up his mind to jump off a mountain peak and die. But whenever he climbed to the top of the mountain for this purpose, Jibreel (A.S.) appeared to him. Jibreel (a.s.) pointed at him and said, 'O Muhammad (ï·º) you are the true prophet of God.' Hearing this, the discomfort of his soul would calm down, he would gain eternal peace in his mind, and then he would return home. Again, if the revelation was stopped for some time, the same situation would repeat itself.
