The Sad Life of Muhammad (PBUH).

Prophet Muhammad (ï·º)'s childhood, adolescence and early youth do not contain any specific occupation-related activities. However, it is known through various reliable sources that Banu Sa'd tribe used to go to the fields to graze goats with other boys while staying at Dudhma's house.

[1] He grazed goats in Makkah for a few kirats.

[2] Moreover, he traveled to Syria as a teenager on trade with his uncle Abu Talib. It is narrated that he (ï·º) used to do business with Sa'ib bin Abu Makhumi and he was a good partner. Neither was Toshamodi nor quarrelsome. When he arrived at the time of the conquest of Makkah he greeted him and said, O my brother and business partner.

Then when he reached the age of twenty-five, he went to the country of Sham for business with Khadijah's wealth. It is narrated from Ibn Ishaq that Khadijah (ra) bint Khuwaylid was a noble wealthy and business woman. He used to invest money with businessmen in return for a fixed amount of money as a partnership in business and as per the customary practice. The entire Quraish tribe was engaged in trade for livelihood. When Khadijah (RA) came to know about the truthfulness, good character, virtues and assurance of safekeeping of the Messenger of Allah (ï·º), she made a proposal to Muhammad (ï·º) that she take his money for business purposes. He can travel to Sham country with his servant Maysara. He also acknowledges that he will be paid more than the rate of dividend or profit paid to other businessmen. Muhammad (ï·º) accepted this offer and took his wealth with the slave Maysara and left for Syria.
