Serial Episode: Location of Arabia
Location of Arabia
The word 'Arab' is used
to mean 'sandy desert', a dry gray desert or an area devoid of vines and
grasses. Since time immemorial, the term has been used in a specific sense for
the Arabian Peninsula and the communities living there.
Arabia is bounded by the
Red Sea and the Sinai Peninsula to the west, the Arabian Gulf and a large part
of southern Iraq to the east, and the Arabian Sea to the south, which is a vast
part of the Indian Ocean, to the north by the Empire and parts of northern
Iraq. There is some disagreement about the boundaries mentioned. The area of
the entire territory is estimated to be between 10 lakh and 13 lakh square
miles.
The Arabian Peninsula is
of great importance and significance both from the point of view of interior
geography and topography. The peninsula is surrounded by a vast desert or
horizon wide sandy desert. Due to which this peninsula has become such a
fortified fortress that it is very difficult for any foreign power or external
enemy to attack, establish rights or influence over it. This is due to the
natural causes of the Arabian Peninsula
